Caxias has a rich global history, with its name linked to Brazil and Timor through Portuguese influence. Francisco Xavier de Mendonça Furtado, brother of the Marquis of Pombal, helped spread the name while governing in Brazil.
Later, in 1936, Caxias was adopted in Timor as part of a broader effort to Portuguese toponymy.
Today, the area preserves its historical significance while serving as a tranquil riverside neighborhood near Lisbon.

While Caxias starts to be one of those locations "creeping" up closer to Lisbon, it is still very calm, mainly because there is no direct entry from the Marginal Road and you have to do a little bit of a detour to get there.
Regardless, it would still be considered well connected and it has plenty to do as a resident. You have some local cafes, you have a fantastic park, and if you like walking, you are not too far from the ocean promenade that can take you all the way to Lisbon if you like to cycle for example!

The climate is similar to the rest of the coast, mild mediterranean, some micro changes here and there as caxias has a couple more areas elevated than others but nothing of note.
It is not a tourist location, it is mainly residential.
